The Pastor's Corner - Nov 2022

The Vision Newsletter: Notes from the Pastor's Desk

November 2022

Peace to one and all from your pastor. When you get this letter we will have completed our annual Charge Conference (November 1, 2022) where we adopt our budget and set the committees for our church to continue the work of discipleship here in Somerville. I hope that if you were asked that you accepted your part in this wonderful church and that you are excited about all that we plan to accomplish for God in the next year. That being said, we are certainly not through with 2022. There is much yet to do this year and many opportunities being planned for you to join us in lifting God to our community and to also share in the joy that is ours because of our loving and gracious God.

As has been our pleasure in the past, we again offered our community a place to exercise their civic duty to vote. If you receive this letter prior to November 8, 2022, I would strongly encourage each and every one of you to cast your vote. With prayer and appropriate reflection, you should cast your vote. Democracy is only as good as its people and their taking seriously their vote. Each vote is important and sends our leaders a message as to whether they are leading us in the proper direction or not.

On November 9th we will be celebrating our Veterans. We have opened our celebration to the entire community and hope that this year’s celebration will be meaningful and that God will bless the hearts of us all through the dedication of the many that will be celebrated. Please plan on attending this event in our CAC at 6pm. If you have any pictures or stories about a loved-one related to their military service please get the information to Amy Campbell as soon as possible so that she can include it in this celebration.

It is my understanding that the Annual Bazaar is already sold out, as far as it goes for rent of booths. Excitement is ramping up and we hope that you will join us for a great day of fellowship, food and a wide variety of crafts. Mark your calendars (11-12-22) from 9am-3pm.

We are planning on hosting this year’s Community Thanksgiving Service. It will be the Sunday evening prior to Thanksgiving (November 20, 2022 at 6:00pm). As we gather to lift our thanksgivings to God for all of our many and wonderful gifts and blessings we are also participating in a community of faith that is strong and vibrant here in Somerville.

Life in our community and throughout the world continues to be a struggle. As we live the lives God has given to us, may we never stop seeking out those that need a helping hand. As situations arise, please keep your church aware of the needs and do not hesitate to let us know how we can be of assistance. Christmas is rapidly approaching and there are many “shoe boxes” that need to be filled and brought in by the deadline, November 14, 2022.

May God’s grace and peace continually be with you, now and forever!
